Who is behind this?

I’m Yohan J. John, a science writer and computational neuroscientist.

I enjoy integrating different viewpoints and scales of observation, moving from a bird’s eye picture of behavior down to the level of neurotransmitters — and back up again.

I worked for several years as a research scientist in a neuroanatomy lab, modeling the brain circuits that mediate emotion and motivation, and how disruptions to these circuits can lead to psychiatric disorders.

I did my PhD in Cognitive and Neural Systems at Boston University. Prior to that, I studied physics. I did a master’s at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, and my undergraduate degree is from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.
